Employee Spotlight With James Metcalf

This month’s staff spotlight is with James Metcalf, our Production Planner.

What’s your day to day role and how long have you been at Powrmatic?

Production capacity planning, so that we can meet customer expectations with regard to  deliveries. I also do work behind the scenes to try and maximise the full potential of our MRP system.  I’ve now been with the business exactly 1 year!.

 What is something you would like to learn?

Languages, I started to learn German, French and Spanish but never seem to have the time to finish, life goal is to master one before I am 50.

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you…

 I have been known as Bob for most of my life! Comes from my middle name Robert…..story is to long and embarrassing to explain though.

  I am a Qualified Toolmaker!

   I cook everything at home…..absolutely everything!

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

 Testing Arial Antenna Systems in Helicopters! Yes I actually turned up for work and got flown    around in a helicopter doing various test on Antenna systems……it was very cool!

What are your hobbies outside of Powrmatic?

Boating and Golf.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

 RAF Aircraft Engineer.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

 Probably a holiday.

If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and why?

Isambard Kingdom Brunel – Absolute engineering genesis. Engineering is my passion and he was the man that I always read about as a young aspiring engineer. Would of loved to work with him!

What phobias do you have? 

 I don’t really have any!.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Leaving the windows open with the heating left on!.
