Sports Facility Heating Solution

Powrmatic was selected to supply a Radiant Heating solution for an 825m² old Bus Station being renovated into an indoor training/sports facility for Team Rees Gym in Caerphilly. The final approved design included five x 50kW Radiant Tube Heaters, all installed by Ignium Mechanical.

Project Background

Team Rees Gym is a state-of-the-art fitness centre established in 2017 specialising in introducing people to health and fitness. There’s a fitness class for everyone, all held in an enormous TRG Sports Hall measuring 60 metres by 15metres! Whatever your fitness goals, Team Rees Gym will help you find the right class for you. Ignium Mechanical took on the challenge of helping to turn an old bus station into a new indoor training/sports facility for one of their customers. Powrmatic was selected to supply the sports facility heating for the 825m² building, they wanted as much floor space as possible which led Ignium to look into our SRP radiant range. 

 

Project Solution

Powrmatic was approached by the team at Ignium, the challenge was to design energy-efficient systems to heat the building which would not take up a lot of room so they could utilise as much of the space for the sports facility. The requirement was to ensure that there was enough heat capacity to meet the customer’s requirements, as it is a large open space with roller doors. Five Powrmatic SRP 50KW radiant heater was chosen, offering maximum efficiency from lightweight radiant heating tubes providing direct heat and warmth.

Project Result

Powrmatic delivered the sports facility heating to suit the installer’s schedule and installation took place over a short period. The Powrmatic SRP Radiant U-Tube Heaters time and temperature are controlled by Powrmatic MC200 controllers with remote black bulb sensors. The remote radiant black blub sensors allow temperatures to be controlled more accurately. The system was fully commissioned and handed over to the new sports facility in Caerphilly. They are very happy with the comfort and efficiency of the radiant heaters.
