Smyths Toys Retail Superstore Heating

Project Background

The 25,000 sq. ft. superstore opened in July 2016 and energy performance was a key criterion in the design specification. To that end, Sheridan M&E needed to find a solution that would ensure customer comfort while minimising energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Project Solution

Powrmatic NVS condensing suspended gas unit heaters have been installed by Sheridan M&E at the new Smyths Toys superstore in Newtownabbey. This was the second project in Northern Ireland to make use of these high-efficiency warm air heaters.

Sheridan’s Eddie Allan recalled: “In such a large space as this, it can be difficult to find the right balance between heating and cooling but the Powrmatic range is all about delivering energy efficiency. From our perspective, the fact that these units are easy to install is another bonus.”

Project Result

Powrmatic NVS units are fully condensing warm air heaters, delivering net efficiencies of up to 104%, thanks to a four pass primary heat exchanger and two pass secondary heat exchanger. Suspended from the roof, they ensure that Smyths enjoys efficient heating performance without any loss of sales floor.

Being one of only two projects in Northern Ireland to install these suspended unit heaters was quite unique, but we are a highly-experienced company and this was a straightforward installation.”
