The Sandman Signature Sheffield Quays Hotel, formerly known as the Best Western Quays Hotel, recently underwent a comprehensive refurbishment to enhance guest experience and update its facilities. A key part of this transformation involved improving the in-room heating and cooling systems to provide greater comfort, efficiency, and aesthetic appeal.
As part of the renovation, the hotel management aimed to install a modern climate control system that could provide both heating and cooling. However, they were faced with several challenges. Every guest room featured a balcony with stunning views across the city, and it was important to preserve these views without cluttering the exterior with outdoor condensers. Additionally, some of the rooms had limited wall space, making it difficult to accommodate standard-sized units. The solution needed to be sleek, space-efficient, and easy to install, all while offering reliable year-round climate control.
To meet the hotel’s needs, Powrmatic supplied a mix of Vision 3.1kW and compact 2.3kW units, which were ideal for rooms with limited wall space. Installed by Sandman refurbishment team across an entire floor in Phase One, each unit featured a sleek wall controller and required no external condenser—preserving the building’s clean exterior and balcony views. Offering both heating and cooling, the Vision units delivered year-round comfort with a fast, low-disruption installation.
The outcome of the first phase has been extremely positive. Guests now benefit from comfortable, modern rooms with discreet and effective climate control. The second phase, which involves fitting the remaining floor with Vision units,will be carried out in the coming months.
