Industrial Unit Heating - Sheffield

Project Background

A local manufacturing company was facing heating issues in its industrial unit space. The building had a volume of 48,000㎥ The existing heating system was outdated and inefficient, resulting in uneven heating and high energy bills. The company reached out to MCL Energy for a solution. MCL Energy recommended the installation of Powrmatic 2 x VX 140 Floor standing heaters, which are ERP compliant and known for their high-quality performance. The aim was to provide a reliable and efficient heating solution that would ensure a comfortable working environment for employees while reducing energy costs for the company. 

Project Solution

The installation also included the supply and installation of 8 CECx 6650 destratification fans to assist with air circulation, a new horizontal concentric flue, and all new gas pipework of adequate size to carry the correct volume. To control the heaters, a new localised controller was installed per heater, along with associated wiring local to the heater.

The power supply was supplied by the site for each heater and destratification fan, with suspended heaters requiring a run current of 4.7 amp, floor standing heaters requiring a run current of 12 amp, and destratification fans requiring a run current of 2.5 amp. It was recommended that type C breakers be used for each of these components.

The gas pipework was installed and tested in accordance with IGE UP 1&2, and all gas pipework was fitted with gas isolation valves and test points where applicable. The installation was carried out safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations.

Project Result

Upon completion of the installation, the building saw a significant improvement in the heating of its space. The Powrmatic heaters and destratification fans provided an efficient and effective heating solution, ensuring a comfortable working environment for employees. The new heating system also resulted in lower energy bills for the company.

The installation was carried out by MCL Energy safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations. Upon completion, commissioning was carried out, and a gas certificate and manufacturer’s benchmark were completed. Strength, tightness, and purge certificates were issued, providing peace of mind for the building owner. Overall, the installation of the Powrmatic heaters and destratification fans provided a reliable and efficient heating solution for the manufacturing company.
