Manufacturing Facility Heating Solution

In partnership with C.P Connolly & Son, Powrmatic supplied a VX 120kW floor standing warm air cabinet heater to condition the air for a 1200m² car parts distribution unit at Motor Parts Direct in Sevenoaks. Two CECx calecon units were also installed to effectively re-distribute the rising warm air back into the facility.

Project Background

Motor Parts Direct first opened its doors in Kettering in 1999 and are now the UK’s largest independent motor factor. Despite the pandemic, 2020 was one of Motor Parts Direct’s busiest years with the opening of 20 new branches. Prior to the installation, the building had no heating. The requirement was for an energy-efficient, warm air heating solution for a 1,200m² manufacturing facility to maintain internal temperatures of around 16°C for working staff during the working day.

Project Solution

Chris and his team at C.P Connolly & Son installed a heating system that would heat the entire building using a combination of warm air heaters and desertification fans. For ease of access and control, a single floor-standing gas-fired VX cabinet heater 120Kw was chosen along with two CECx 1400 and one CECx 3350 destratifications fan. The two desertification fans were installed on the mezzanine floor and the single 3350 unit at the end of the building from the heater for the ground floor level.

Project Result

The new energy-efficient system was installed expertly by C.P Connolly & Son and their client is extremely pleased with the performance of the new warm air system. The unit now benefits from a maintained temperature throughout the building ensuring staff are kept warm during the colder months. The CECx desertification fans recirculate high-level hot air, reducing stratification and associated heat losses and directing the warm air back into designated areas.
