Automotive Workshop Heating Solution

Car Body Workshop Heating

A new state-of-the-art car repair Bodyshop required a modern and efficient heating solution for their newly opened automotive workshop. The existing system was outdated, providing uneven heat distribution and high energy costs. To meet operational and regulatory demands, a tailored heating installation was needed to ensure comfort, efficiency, and compliance.

  • “This project demonstrated how a high-quality heating solution like the Powrmatic LX warm air heaters can significantly improve performance in a demanding workshop environment. Their reliability, controllability, and ease of installation made them an ideal choice for achieving consistent temperatures and improved energy efficiency across the space.”

Project Background

As part of their site development, the car repair bodyshop faced heating challenges due to high ceilings, poor insulation in areas, and an aging gas-fired unit heater setup. With a calculated heat load of approximately 240kW, the workshop needed a solution that would improve internal temperature control, reduce energy consumption, and be installed with minimal disruption. The project also had to meet workplace health and safety standards, particularly during the UK’s colder seasons.

Project Solution

RG Engineering were brought in to design and install a new heating system tailored to the workshop’s size and layout. They installed four Powrmatic NVx 60 suspended warm air heaters, strategically positioned from the roof purlins to ensure even distribution. Each unit was fitted with a dedicated timed controller and thermostat to allow zone-based temperature management. New natural gas pipework was laid to feed the system, and the entire installation was completed within just seven days without any impact on the site’s operations. Summers Garage Equipment managed the full turnkey delivery of the workshop fit-out, and Resin Floors Telford provided over 2,000m² of hard-wearing epoxy resin flooring to complete the facility.

Project Result

The heating upgrade delivered immediate benefits, maintaining a stable internal temperature of 18–20°C across the workshop while improving employee comfort and reducing energy usage by an estimated 25%. The vehicle repair workshop reported zero operational downtime during installation and were highly satisfied with the end result—a reliable, efficient, and future-ready working environment.
