Saint Marks Church in Biggin Hill, Kent required an replacement external warm air church heating system which were nearing the end of its life. The heating system was located on the roof which was the perfect opportunity to access and replace.
A Powrmatic 150 kW external warm air church heating system, was installed by Vos Heating Services. Vos Heating provided a full project management service, which included organising cranage to remove the old heater from the roof and replace it with the new one.
“The old heater was nearing the end of its useful life, and was also installed on top of a copper roof that had to be replaced. This therefore presented an ideal opportunity to upgrade the heating, using a Powrmatic heater with a modulating burner controlled by a Powrmatic MC200 controller” (Phil Vos - Vos Heating)
The Powrmatic MC200 is password protected to prevent unauthorised changes to the heating controls. It also provides access to all control functions from inside the building, whereas some functions with the previous system could only be accessed from the roof.
The new system enables a more efficient response to the church’s variable occupancy as the heating can now be timed to come on when the church is occupied, and will modulate to maintain set point temperatures with minimum fuel consumption. Further efficiencies are delivered using ‘self-learning’ weather compensation to optimise warm-up times.
The installation went ahead without any problems or disruption to our normal day-to-day operation and we now have a heating system that is working well and fully meeting our requirements (Don Reeks - Parish Administrator)
