powrmatic have announced that their osr range of louvred roof and wall smoke ventilation products have gained approval to BS EN 12101 Part 2: 2002, the specification for natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators.
This means that Powrmatic’s customers have the confidence of knowing osr ventilator products are fit for purpose, having been tested to the highest European standards, and will operate fully and reliably.
In the event of a fire, osr creates and maintains a smoke free layer above floor level, removing smoke and exhausting the hot gases released in the developing stages of a fire. This means that the osr ventilator range assists in the evacuation of people from buildings, reduces fire damage and financial loss from smoke damage, improves visibility to facilitate access for firefighters, reduces roof temperatures and retards the lateral spread of fire.
The osr range is also used for natural ventilation, to help create a comfortable working environment. It offers day to day release of internal heat gains, enabling temperatures to be reduced to more acceptable levels in summer.
osr uses natural thermal buoyancy which means low energy consumption. It can be used to reduce the load on air conditioning units and can mean significant further savings on energy costs. It is compliant under Part L1 B and Part L2 of the new Building Regulations on the conservation of fuel and power, as set out by the Kyoto Treaty on climate change.
The tests under BS EN 12101 Part 2: 2002 cover aerodynamic free area, snow & wind loads, vibration, reliability and heat resistance. With a wide range of controls and flexible installation, osr can be fitted into any roof or glazed construction.
