ISO 14001 Certification
Powrmatic, already well known as a leading manufacturer of low emission/high efficiency heating products has demonstrated further social responsibility by the achievement of ISO14001 Environmental Certification, an internationally recognised standard focused on minimising the environmental impact of businesses.
Complementing the existing ISO 9001 Quality Certification ISO 14001 has been awarded following the development and implemention of an effective Environmental Management System (EMS) which has the specific objectives, such as to decrease and control waste and by-product production.
Darren Kirk, Powrmatic's Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor said ‘The implementation of our EMS strategy demonstrates the commitment to improve our environmental performance. All sections of our organisation understand the importance of environmental protection and are keen to participate in our continuing obligation to meet targets.'
The strategy had already had a positive effect with improved sheet metal utilisation within manufacturing processes complemented by a 50% reduction in packaging and waste removal from site. Emphasis too has been placed on the carbon footprint of the business and as a result energy consumption has been reduced and renewable material content increased.
The implementation of the EMS is the first step in a long term strategy aimed at increased environmental accountability.
