Powrmatic has supplied six room-sealed radiant heaters to Donaldson Timber Engineering’s production workshop in Andover, ensuring comfort for staff while addressing demanding environmental conditions.
Donaldson Timber Engineering is the UK’s largest and longest established manufacturer and supplier of engineered wood products, with eight branches across England and Scotland.
Local heating engineers Andover Gas Engineers Ltd therefore recommended the use of radiant heating tubes, sealed to prevent ingress of dust. These are installed in the central apex of the 5,472m2 workshop, above forklift height, and arranged in pairs to reflect heat precisely to areas where staff are working.
“We are very pleased with the new heating. It heats up the work areas within minutes and is so efficient that we’ve had to turn it down, as staff were getting too hot ”
The Andover workshop had previously been using warm air heaters but these interfered with the dust extraction system and also became clogged with dust themselves.
The heating system is controlled through a Powrmatic MC200 controller linked to temperature sensors on the wall, ensuring that staff remain warm even when the roller doors are open.
