Powrmatic Warm Air Heaters Fix Comfort Issues

Powrmatic warm air heaters and destratification fans are maintaining comfortable conditions for staff at two facilities in Hampshire for fastenings specialist Portafix. Powrmatic units were specified and installed by heating engineer Andover Gas Engineers Ltd .The first installation was carried out at the company’s 2,600m2 Hopkinson Way warehouse, where NVx gas-fired warm air heaters have been suspended from drop rods at either end of the building, with four CECx destratification fans installed above racking aisles.

“A key requirement when replacing the old heating was to ensure that comfort conditions were maintained at all time, even when the roller doors are in operation,” recalled Andrew Lewis of Andover Gas. “Also, there is dense racking in the space, so the CECx units ensure that warm air at high level is recirculated back down through the aisles. There had also been a problem of staff being too warm with the previous heating system, so we have linked the heating to a Powrmatic MC200 installer to control temperatures and optimise energy efficiency”

The Hopkinson Way project proved so successful that Portafix selected Powrmatic to provide heating at a new facility in Telford Road, where no heating was installed. Here, Andover Gas Engineers Ltd  has installed a horizontally-flued VPC cabinet heater, combined with three CECx destratification fans. As the flue terminal is less than 2m above the floor, it has been fitted with a special guard for safety.

“This facility is used mainly for storage of cardboard boxes and the doors are opened on a regular basis. To offset this, the VPC unit is sited close to the roller shutter door”
